The other day I did an Instagram live explaining a word from God that I had last week while I was in my car. "You might already be like, pump the brakes, what is 'a word from God?'" I felt the same way when I first became a Christian. Essentially, God talks to us in many ways; Sometimes in a song, sometimes from the Bible, sometimes an audible voice, sometimes through tongues, sometimes through prophecy, sometimes through other people and sometimes you just have a thought and you know that it's Him. I'm not going to dive into the voice of God in this post, but I can tell you that the voice of God has become a very real, very difficult thing to navigate as a new Christian. BUT IT'S ALSO SO COOL!!! Call me crazy, but I talk to God. All the time. And chances are, Christian or not, when you face a crisis, you talk to God too. And that's what I want to talk about today.
As I started 2018, I thought carefully about what I wanted for the year to come. I thought through my intentions behind every desire and asked myself a lot of "why's." When the typical "work out and eat healthy" resolution came up, I found myself realizing that my past motivations were never enough to fulfill this goal because they were empty and unfulfilling. "Eat healthy because it's good for you. Eat healthy because it will make you look good. Eat healthy so people think you're beautiful."
I can remember setting goals in the past like "I want to eat really healthy and go to the gym every day so I can have a good body." There's nothing wrong with that goal, but the intention behind it was probably to impress someone or to be admired for having a good body if I'm being totally honest. Instead of aiming my intentions toward worldly gains, I want them to be more Christ-centered. Even if you're not a Christian, defining the intentions behind each goal is a crucial step to maintaining it. This year as I was reflecting, asking myself the hard questions, and being really honest with myself, I wanted my resolutions to be for the right reasons. My vision for 2018 is that I will grow into better habits, not set a resolution that will taper out in a month (or a week because let's be real, I know me 😏) Sooooo with all that being said here are my 2018 resolutions and goals.
